Frequently Asked Questions

What is Compute Exchange?

Compute Exchange connects buyers who need cloud computing resources with sellers who have excess capacity, facilitating transactions through an auction system. The platform facilitates payment processing and delivery of compute between parties.

How does the auction system work?

Providers list various compute configurations available for rental, and their pricing for various term lengths. Buyers specify their requirements via simple to use filters, and choose a term and bid price. We determine your preference curve across the spectrum of possible configurations that could meet your need. When the auction closes, the system determines fair market prices for your configuration(s) based on supply and demand. Buyers and sellers with compatible orders are matched at the fair market price for their compute, and notified to complete payment and delivery.

What types of computing resources can be traded?

Compute Exchange auctions currently list various popular NVIDIA GPU models, including B200s, H200s and H100s. We will expand our market to include other accelerator types in the weeks ahead. Contact us if you have specific requirements to discuss your needs.

Will market data be publicly available?

Absolutely! Core to our mission is bringing radical transparency to the opaque compute markets. Once our market is live on February 25, our market pricing data will be available for free to any market participants. Over time, we will be announcing additional depth to our market data, including educational resources.

When will the market officially open?

We have been building market liquidity for over 6 months via several beta auctions towards a public market open on February 25. Prior to this official open, we will continue to run private auctions for buyers that have immediate needs. Please reach out to [email protected] or Register for an auction to learn more.

Where can I learn more about a specific auction?

We will be posting periodic updates to this site as we approach our April 15 auction. Please reach out to [email protected] or Register for an auction to learn more.

What comes next?

Our launch from stealth was just the beginning of the movement to build a compute economy. We will be announcing key features going live leading up to our market opening on February 25 as well as a roadmap for what to expect afterwards.
